#6 Goat (C)

#6 Goat (C) What do you do when a Jonas Brother wants to strip his squeaky clean Disney rep?  Have him star in Scream Queens as a mass murderer, a gay boxer on Kingdom and as an angry frat brother in Goat.  But this story is more about the character played by Jonas’ brother, Ben Schnetzer, a 19 year old kid who survives a terrifying and inexplicable assault after leaving a party, who later decides to pledge a fraternity where his brother is already a brother.  While I can’t say I’ve seen a movie exactly like this, that pushes the boundary of masculine bonding, underground disgusting homoerotic hazing rituals and death defying alcohol abuse, Goat at it’s heart is a story about how men share feelings, through love and through violence — mainly the latter.  Shout out to the Goat… While no animals were harmed in the making of this movie, it is absolutely no surprise that more and more humans are paying the ultimate price for joining these seemingly perk-filled organizations.  As one dorky college kid put it, “I’m getting more pussy now than I ever have.  Look at me?  It’s because of the FRAT!  None of this would be happening without the brothers.  I can’t quit now!”   You are who you roll with and that’s not a crowd I want anything to do with.  Ew.   Don’t waste your time on this one.

Oh, and for the gays hoping for what we all KNOW really happens in the frat house, don’t hold your breath.  It’s a lot more homophobic than homoerotic.   No nudity and nothing questionable.   Bleh.
